30-Day countdown to Brooks Snowdonia Marathon Eryri 2016 entry ‘go live’

With a little over a month since the most successful ever Brooks Snowdonia Marathon Eryri entries are set to go live for the 34th event in a 30 days time on the 1st of January, 2016.

The 2500 places for the 2015 Brooks Snowdonia Marathon Eryri were snapped up in less than 2 days after opening on the 1st of January this year, and race co-ordinator Jayne Lloyd expects that timescale to be equalled, if not bettered, once again in 2016.

Lloyd has been at the head of organsing the race since 2004 and says that judging by the feedback from the 2015 event that demand for places will be as competitive as the race itself:

“We took almost 1500 entries for the race in the first day last year, which is pretty incredible. We had runners on the Facebook and Twitter pages asking when entries went live for 2016 on the evening of the race day this year, so less than 6 hours after the 2015 event had finished!

“As an organising team we are still humbled by the popularity and the praise that the race gets from across the spectrum of runners, sponsors, partners and the local community. Social media is an ever important tool too and has really helped us as we are in daily contact with our runners via Facebook, Twitter and our website.”

Next year’s race will take place on Saturday the 29th of October, with its traditional start time of 10.30am.

Regarding the local support and significance of the race, Jayne continued:

“This event means so much to the Llanberis and North Wales community, especially with the way the race has developed the event now extends into many countries and running communities. We are so proud of what Marathon Eryri has done for the area over the last 30-odd years and how many people’s lives we have touched.

“In 2016 runners can again expect an experience that is rivaled by few UK running events, once again we are freezing the entry fee at £30 too which offers fantastic value for money!”

Entries for the 2016 race open on Friday Jan 1st at 00.01am and can be accessed by going to www.snowdoniamarathon.com and clicking on ENTER THE RACE link.
